Red Wine Being Poured

Whether it’s at the end of a long day at work or on a sunny Saturday afternoon, there’s no better feeling than unwinding with a glass of wine and a delicious entrée. While you can certainly order whatever your heart desires, red wine is particularly great for pairing with specific Sammy’s dishes.

Luckily, you don’t have to be a wine expert to achieve a perfect combination. Let us offer a few pairing suggestions for all of you red wine lovers out there.

Hogue Cabernet Sauvignon (Washington) + Flat Iron Steak

Toasty and silky with subtle notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and persimmon, this bold red perfectly complements our Flat Iron Steak. The dish includes fingerling potatoes, asparagus, tomatoes, and herb oil.
Chianti is perhaps one of the easiest wines to pair. It’s a longtime favorite with Italian food, so consider it with our Brown Rice Penne, Pappardelle Bolognese, Tomato Angel Hair, or Meatballs & Marinara. Many people also enjoy a glass of Chianti with pizza, which you know we have plenty of!
You might be thinking steak again here, and you’re definitely right. But, the medium-weight toast finish on this Argentinian red is also ideal for our Chicken Tequila Fettuccine, which features a flavorful blend of bell peppers, red onion, jalapeño, and tequila-lime cream.
This savory, velvety California merlot is amazing with Sammy’s Oak Roasted Chicken Breast. Bold aromas of wild berries with hints of cassis and Ceylon black tea blend beautifully with fresh organic herbs, asparagus, fingerling potatoes, pine nuts, tomatoes, and basil pesto.
Santa Barbara has a broad yet refined wine culture, and this floral yet earthy pinot noir is a highlight of the region. Pinot noir is another versatile wine for pairing, but we’re going to recommend our Oak Roasted Salmon Fillet over Asian salad, edamame, cucumber, and ponzu sauce.

Placido Chianti DOCG (Italy) + Pasta or Pizza

Diseño Malbec (Argentina) + Chicken Tequila Fettuccine

Robert Mondavi Merlot (Napa) + Oak Roasted Chicken Breast

Greg Norman Pinot Noir (Santa Barbara) + Oak Roasted Salmon

The possibilities are endless when it comes to matching your favorite red wine with one of our menu items. So, our best advice is to find your nearest Sammy’s and stop on by! Your server will be happy to offer further suggestions based on your personal preferences.
