Here’s a Sammy’s Salad You Can Make at Home

04/10/2019

Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza is so much more than your typical pizza restaurant. Of course, our famous pizzas tend to get the most attention—after all, “ woodfired pizza” is in our name. But one glance at our menu and you’ll notice tons of other standout dishes, particularly in the salad section.

Sammy’s original chopped chicken salad is a favorite among the health-conscious and flavor cravers alike. With marinated chicken breast, fresh basil and vegetables, mozzarella cheese, and savory red wine vinaigrette, it’s one of those menu items that many of our “ regulars” order time and time again. Plus, it’s light, healthy, and gluten-free.

As much as we love serving this salad in our restaurants, we understand that sometimes you want to stay in and lounge with the family over a homemade meal. So (and we don’t do this often), we’re giving out our official chopped chicken salad recipe for everyone to enjoy!

The Original Chopped Chicken Salad

(Serves 3 to 4 people)
2 oz. balsamic vinegar
3 oz. canola oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. ground black pepper
1 head iceberg lettuce (1lb.), cleaned of any brown outer leaves and cored
½ cup fresh basil leaves, julienned
2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
1 ½ cup diced Roma tomatoes
1 lb. marinated grilled chicken breast
1. Prepare marinade. Combine salt, pepper, dry mustard, and vinegar with a wire whisk. Slowly add oil and continue whisking until mixture thickens. Pour over chicken to coat. Marinate chicken overnight, then grill and cut into ½ inch cubes.
Now the only question is: do you want to prepare this delicious salad yourself, or visit Sammy’s and let us make it fresh for you? If you’re thinking the latter, find your nearest location here and come on by!
